This charming property was built at the end of the nineteenth century and was distinguished from all the others in the village of Castanheira Summit by having an inverted roof, also being called the "House of the Three Burners". Its privileged geographical location, close to the Serra Picoto Rainho, 5 minutes from the river beach "O Malhadal", as well as the use of materials from the region in its reconstruction (schist stone and pine wood) make this house unique and distinctive. The exterior of the property is covered with schist stone with closed joints and the stones varnished with transparent varnish, to maintain the color of the stones as they are in nature.
Its entire interior is made of pine (floor, walls and ceilings). This interior wood is protected with a transparent, flame-retardant water-based varnish to keep the wood in its most natural colour possible.
On the technical side, we highlight the walls of great thickness (80 cm) with air gap stone, thermal insulation, new air box and wood. Thermal insulation has also been used on floors and ceilings for better comfort. A underfloor heating system was implemented, heated by a gas boiler supported by solar panels. Domestic hot water follows the same principle. The property also includes a wood-burning fireplace, as well as a wood stove, which includes a water boiler, which when in use helps to heat water both for the underfloor heating and for sanitary water.
